North University (Norway)
North University is a Norwegian state university which was established by the King-in-Council on 9 October 2015. It is a merger of the former University of Nordland, Nesna University College and Nord-Trøndelag University College, and becomes operational on 1 January 2016.〔(Nytt universitet i Midt- og Nord-Norge )〕 The main campus and administration is based in Bodø, with smaller campuses in Nesna, Levanger, Steinkjer, Namsos and Stjørdal.
The name is reportedly spelled ''Nord universitet'' in Norwegian by the institution itself, although the grammatically correct Norwegian spelling would be ''Norduniversitetet''. The spelling was criticized by linguists such as Sylfest Lomheim and Finn-Erik Vinje.〔(Språkforsker om nytt universitetsnavn: – Dette var klønete greier ), NRK〕〔(– Nord universitet er et klønete navn ), Helgelands Blad〕
